| I became a line dance
"instructor" quite by accident about 4 years
ago when I retired from full-time work. I have always had
an interest in dance and had tried Jazzercise and
Aerobics but when a friend took me to line dance class I
was hooked - something fun that I could do - well after
the first few awful weeks anyway. Then our instructor decided it was too much travelling coming to Te Awamutu and asked me to be "Leader" if our little group wanted to keep going so with 6 months experience and a lot of help from my friends I took up the challenge and we have learnt and progressed together and become the Waipa Wranglers, Waipa being the district that our small town of Te Awamutu is in, hence the name. We are still a small group but full of enthusiasm and enjoy travelling to Line Dance socials around our area and sometimes further afield. We have also earned a reputation for our socials and I believe we were the first to choreograph and perform a "Classical" Line Dance complete with tutu's and men in tights. We have line dance classes 3 times a week and we do a few demonstrations but our main aim is to have lots of fun and with good company, music and dance that is what we do. |
